Citizen Gardener Raised Garden Bed

Become a Citizen Gardener this Fall

Another season of Citizen Gardener is just around the corner! These 10-hour, hands-on courses are divided into three sessions and offer essential knowledge for growing food in Central Texas, including the basics of constructing raised beds, composting, and collecting rainwater. After finishing the classes, students become official Citizen Gardeners by completing 10 hours of volunteer work in any one of our partner gardens.

Lend a Hand to Help Swede Farm

Our friends at Swede Farm have had a challenging summer. Farming is never easy, but sometimes unforeseen bumps in the road call for the community to step up and lend a hand. The Carlson family has worked hard over the years to provide quality goat milk and cheese to our market shoppers; they’re an essential part of our local food economy. Tim and LeeAnn and their children have been there time and again for others during times of distress, because that’s what community is all about—sharing our strength and working together for the greater good. We hope you’ll read their story and support them in any way you’re able!
