Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth - Plant a Fruit Tree!
With the holidays quickly approaching and the cold weather rolling in, most of our stomachs are grumbling in anticipation for pies, cookies, cakes, and other sweets this winter season. Some of us even have visions of sugar-plums dancing in our heads. But of course, the sweetest food of them all is fruit! And now is the perfect time to start planting fruit trees in our gardens and backyards for tasty treats in the spring!

What's Cooking?

Marquel and her family used double dollars at SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley to shop for abundant greens and the crunchy carrots and crisp green beans her boys love. This week, she’ll make cabbage in a Dutch oven, seasoned with a little pastured pork bacon and salt and pepper. She buys an extra bunch of carrots, because “the first one never makes it to the house!” For her Thanksgiving table, she's looking forward to roasted sweet potatoes and lots of fresh greens.

Don’t forget that our local farmers have everything you need for a delicious, home-cooked Thanksgiving feast—from turkey to sweet potatoes to pecans for pie! Come on out to the SFC Farmers’ Markets on Saturday and stock up for next week’s cooking!
