Most people don’t think of taking someone on a “date” to the farmers’ market. But you can actually learn a lot about a person by taking them to the market to spend some time with them. Much more so than going to a movie or dinner. And you can reinforce your relationship with an endearing occasion that you’ll always remember by bringing your sweetheart to the market! Is Cooking at Home Healthier?

The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre®’s goal is for individuals and families alike to cook more often with fresh, whole ingredients. Over the past several months, we have been revising our survey of cooking class participants to capture not just the types of food participants are cooking with, but also to capture how much participants are cooking at home as a result of taking our classes. But, is it in fact healthier to cook at home? On our blog are two articles exploring this topic. What do you think—do you feel healthier when you cook at home?



Grow-Share-Prepare Food Systems Training
SFC will offer our in-person, hands-on Food Systems Program Training for each of our program areas on June 8 – 10, 2015. The trainings are led by SFC staff and are designed for organizations interested in sustainable and local food systems programming. Participants will leave with program planning, implementation, and evaluation tools and resources needed to initiate gardening, farm marketing, and healthy cooking programs within their own communities.
