Herb bouquets make great gifts!

Show Your Love With an Edible Bouquet

To give or receive a cheerful bouquet of flowers is delightful. But perhaps this Valentine’s Day, you’d like to give a gift that is a bit less common. We may be a bit biased as SFC’s Grow Local gardening team, but we think that it would be much more exciting to give your loved one a home-grown, edible bouquet! There are plenty of plants growing in gardens right now that you can use to whip up a stunning and delicious Valentine’s Day bouquet.

Lemon Tree Herbs have the elixirs of your heart!

Elixirs for the Heart, From the Heart

Did you know that the SFC Farmer’s Market Downtown has a local herbalist who makes love potions? Sarah Ross of Lemon Tree Herbs makes herbal remedies - tinctures, elixirs, seasonal bitters, infused vinegars, elderberry syrup and teas—in the folk medicine tradition of our foremothers. Sarah started her little business at the market a year ago, and it is truly a labor of love. Heart elixirs make lovely, unique, useful gifts anytime for yourself or for a loved one, and you might consider an elixir perfect for a Valentine’s Day gift! Lemon Tree Herbs invites you to follow your heart down to the Saturday market on February 13th and check out some elixirs. Read on for Sara's recommendations.

THK staff shares some of their favorite foods!

Our Favorite Foods

One of the 2016 goals for all of us in The Happy Kitchen is a revision of our cookbook, Fresh, Seasonal Recipes. Starting this project has reminded us of our favorite Happy Kitchen recipes: Steamed Tomatillo Fish, Yammy Muffins, Kale Chips, Salmon Patties, Crunchy Cabbage Salad, White Bean & Kale Soup, and many more. Since we’ve been talking about our favorite foods and favorite recipes, and since this weekend is a time to celebrate love, this week we are sharing the foods we love most.
