Thank You for Amplifying Austin!

We'd like to thank our community for coming together to support our local food system. During this 24-hour period we were able to raise $14,324 for our programs that work to support our local food system, by increasing access to nutritious and affordable food for all. We had over 213 people come together and give, with 6 people fundraising on our behalf. This is an incredible level of support, and we are so grateful to our community!

Children in the Garden

Experiential learning is learning through the reflection of doing. Some of the many great things about school and home gardens are the endless possibilities of learning through doing. The Sustainable Food Center (SFC) Teaching Garden hosts hundreds of children a year through school field trips, summer camps, and volunteer work days. Community gardeners and neighbors also visit the garden to play, explore, and learn about food production. Gardens provide children (and adults!) endless opportunities to explore and learn.

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

• Strawberries from Engel Farms are here! Be sure to get to the market early before they sell out!
• Don’t forget to grab some fresh, grass-fed lamb from IO Ranch. They have a great selection if cuts like steaks, chops, and sausage!

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

• Visit Hairston Creek Farm out of Burnet, Texas for an assortment of produce like, asparagus, garlic, and green onions
• Don’t forget to visit Featured Vendor Stones Throw Studio and check out their beautiful jewelry pieces!
