April is a big month of activity for us here at SFC. We have a lot of exciting events coming up that you can participate in to help support all of our community programs. From celebrations of local food & beer to a picnic for the kids, we've got something for everyone nearly every week this month. This Week at the SFC Farmers' Markets

Warm weather is here and the outdoors are calling our name! Visit our farmers' markets this week for an incredible variety of produce, prepared foods, music, and activities. Check out a few highlights below of what will be at the market this coming week. Happy Shopping!

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

  • Looking for pasture raised pork, poultry or grass-fed beef? Look no further than Richardson Farms! Check out the great products they have to offer every Saturday at both Downtown and Sunset Valley.
  • If you haven’t had a chance to try one Juice Society’s organic hand pressed juices, you are missing out! Made right here in Austin, they have assorted flavors like Root Down, Zest, Activated Lemonade, and Omgreens.

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

  • SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley is the perfect place for you and your family to enjoy a Saturday morning breakfast. Try a meat, vegetarian or vegan tamale from Tamale Addiction; one taste and you’ll be back every Saturday for more!
  • Don’t forget to visit Featured Vendor Johnson’s Backyard Garden for their amazing assortment of produce. Can’t make it to Sunset Valley? Check out JBG at the three other SFC Farmers’ Markets.

Food gardeners get your soil tested for nutrient content and heavy metals (toxins) for free! The City of Austin is hosting a Soil Kitchen April 14-17, 9am-2pm at Parque Zaragoza. This is a wonderful opportunity, so tell your friends! Learn more »


East Austin Urban Farm Tour
On April 17th spend a Sunday afternoon strolling vibrant fields of local produce on four neighboring urban farms. At each farm, chefs will provide tastes using the freshest farm ingredients while local brewers, wine merchants, and mixologists will offer sips. Learn more »


Farmgrass Fest
Local nonprofit Farmgrass invites you to two days of pickin' and grinnin' at the third annual Farmgrass Fest on May 14-15, 2016 at Simmons Family Farm. The festival raises money for an emergency medical fund to support Central Texas farmers. Learn more »
