This past Sunday, we held our Annual Appreciation Event at Sustainable Food Center, where we celebrated the support that our incredible facilitators, Farm to School Ambassadors, board members, and volunteers provides us. Despite our different backgrounds, our community was formed through our mutual passion to create and sustain a thriving and just Central Texas Food System. As Día de los Muertos approaches, we can’t help but think how food has a way of building community as well as shaping our past, present and future.

SFC Community Farm Stand East Seasonal Break
The SFC Community Farm Stand East is on a seasonal break through the winter. Our final market day of the year was on October 11. Tremendous thanks goes out to Johnson’s Backyard Garden, who kept a weekly presence at the East farm stand.


SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

  • Buddha's Brew Kombucha on Tap: Buddha’s Brew will have many different flavors of Kombucha on tap this week. There will be Blueberry, Ginger, Pineapple Super Greens, Beet Carrot, Cranberry and Tart Cherry Melon. Come try them all!
  • Get Your Vegetable Fix: Tecolote Farm will have Rainbow Radishes, Komatsuna, Eggplant, Garlic Chives and much more. If you’re craving some vegetables Tecolote Farm at our Downtown market is the place to go!

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

  • Yard to Market Co-op: Yard to Market Co-op will have a range of products from their very own yards just for you! Check them out there will be eggs, yardlong beans, and a variety of spring mixes!
  • Tree Giveaway: Are you an Austin Energy customer in need of some shade or fruit for your yard? Come down to our SFC Farmers' Market at Sunset Valley this Saturday for the TreeFolks Big Tree Giveaway Day! They'll have 1,300 free trees available.
