What's in Store for the Year Ahead

As 2016 came to a close, we here at Sustainable Food Center reflected on the year behind us and the changes that lie ahead. We are looking forward to a year of renewed resolve as we all come together in our work to grow a sustainable and just local food system that benefits us all.

All of our community programs are working hard to bring you the classes and projects you know and love, but we also have some exciting new developments in store for the new year. Read on to learn a little bit more about what's coming up at SFC in 2017!

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

  • Winter Veggies and Hog Share:  Stop by Tecolote Farm for all organic broccoli, tender baby pea shoots & tendrils, baby lettuce salad mixes, salad turnips, sweet asian mustard greens, curly & tuscan kale, cilantro, and french sorrel.   • Citrus Jam: It's January in Texas and citrus is king! Confituras returns to both our Downtown and Sunset Valley markets with juicy orange marmalades, and sweet jewel-toned jellies for the new year!

Texas Farm to School Round Up Farmer Scholarships for TOFGA 2017
We are a longtime sponsor of the annual Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Conference, and are proud to announce the availability of Texas Farm to School Round Up Farmer Scholarships to attend the 2017 pre-conference Farm to School workshop and the two day TOFGA Conference. As part of a USDA Farm to School Training Grant, in collaboration with Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and Texas Department of Agriculture, SFC will issue up to 18 travel stipends of $150 for farmers and ranchers to attend the preconference Farm to School Workshop and full conference. Learn more»
