Spread the Harvest Resource Giveaway Day

Another Successful Resource Giveaway Day!

Spread the Harvest is a project of our Grow Local gardening program that helps Central Texas residents, community gardens and school gardens grow and share healthy food by providing them with free gardening resources. As part of Spread the Harvest, we put on our bi-annual Resource Giveaway Day on Thursday, March 23rd from noon until 7:00pm. This year, we were able to provide resources to 164 individual gardeners, 20 group/community gardens and 68 school gardens in the Central Texas area. Tables on Sale Now for Farm to Plate!

THIS WEEK AT SFC FARMERS' MARKETS

 
SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

  • New Harvest: Texas Food Ranch will have green beans, fresh, yellow squash and snap peas galore! They will also have plenty of watermelon radishes and purple daikons ‐ so yummy and sweet.
  • Outdoor Summer Camp: Homestead Camp has lots of fun outdoor activities for children including building a beehive, making a rain collector, and planting, harvesting, and creating their healthy own feast. They will have a fun and (very) hands on activity at their booth where children can make their own mini home out of clay and straw, along with more info on their camp offerings.

 
SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Saturday from 9am-1pm:

  • Lamb: I O Ranch Lamb will have Leg of Lamb, Rack of Lamb, and all the other lamb cuts - perfect for Easter and Passover! Available at both Sunset Valley and Downtown.
  • Bilingual Story Time: The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center will have a bilingual story time for children ages 4-7, along with coloring pages. They will also have information on the bilingual story time they offer during Sábados en Familia!
