Cooking After Cancer Class Attendees

Cooking After Cancer - Now Available in American Sign Language!

Each year, we host community cooking class series featuring our Cooking After Cancer curriculum. These series include all the healthy tips from our standard series, plus more information on digestion, blood sugar control, inflammation, nutrient density, and other topics that are especially important in cancer survivorship.

This spring, we worked with three student interpreters from Austin Community College’s American Sign Language program. They reviewed the curriculum and recipes in advance and worked with faculty and mentors to prepare for each class. We were thrilled that, with their help, we can share this valuable program with cancer survivors in the Deaf community.

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. May 27th from 9am-1pm:

  • Tomato Fest:  Texas Food Ranch will have plenty of tomatoes this Saturday including heirloom and more than 17 other varieties they planted this year. They will also have their Armenian Striped Cucumbers and much more.
  • Returning Vendor: Check out Engel Farm this week at both our Downtown and Sunset Valley Markets. They will have gorgeous peaches, tomatoes and strawberries!

 
SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Sat. May 27th from 9am-1pm:

  • Gazpacho: Indian Hills Farm will have Asian cucumbers, heirloom tomatoes, and wonderful gazpacho made from their tomatoes this week. Available at both Sunset Valley and Downtown.
  • Solar Energy: Visit GoSolarGetPaid to learn more about how solar power works and the benefits through solar powered cookers, a camp shower, phone chargers and more!

 
SFC Farmers’ Market at the Triangle, Wed. May 31st from 3pm-7pm:

  • New Vendor: We are thrilled to have Blue Earth Farm joining us! This week they will have pastured chicken (whole & half cuts) and pastured pork available.
