Oh What A Year! SFC Impact in 2016-2017

Over the past fiscal year (July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017), we have seen growth in a number of meaningful areas. Our partnerships, including collaborations with the health care sector and with organizations outside of the Austin urban core, have expanded. Our policy and advocacy efforts have also taken a leap forward, as evinced by sustained funding via the Austin City Council for healthy food incentives aimed at improving food access, and by Austin ISD’s continued progress on making fresh, healthy and local food a priority on all AISD campuses. SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. July 29th from 9am-1pm:

  • Dog Days of Summer: Peach Creek Farm carries dog bones and their very own “Puppy Pâté" in addition to grass-fed beef and heritage pork.
  • Old World meets New World: Texas Food Ranch has Armenian heirloom tomatoes whose origins can be traced back to the 16th century Ottoman Empire! Also grab some greens, okra and cucumbers.

Go Fig or Go Home” with Lick Honest Ice Creams
Lick is donating 100% of proceeds from their "Fromage and Fig" flavor throughout the month of August to SFC! Sharing its commitment to supporting local farms, Lick is giving back to SFC by highlighting an ice cream featuring figs locally sourced from Urban Roots Farm. Lick will also be hosting two ice cream making workshops at CRAFT on August 8 and August 22nd at 6:30 pm. All proceeds from the classes benefit SFC. Learn more »
