First Saturdays at the Market

Republic Square Park is the oldest city park in Austin. In fact, this small urban park is home to the Auction Oaks of Austin, where the first lots of Austin were sold to the public. Over the past 18 months, Republic Square has been undergoing a huge renovation, and our SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown is moving back in soon! We will have our own specialized market promenade, dedicated café and stage area, plus a huge grassy lawn for the kiddos to run around or take a yoga class.

If ever you were going to check out our SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, October 7th is the day. Not only will Republic Square Park be open to the public, it’s the first Saturday of the month! Keep reading to learn more about all the exciting new things we have in store for "First Saturdays at the Market"!

SFC FARMERS' MARKET HAPPENINGS

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. Sept 23rd from 9am-1pm:

  • It Gets Spookier: Blue Shed Designs has Reclaimed Cedar wood LED Halloween Lanterns shaped like a pumpkin or a ghost. If creepy crawly is more your style, check out the hanging or standing Halloween Spider Lamp.
  • So Meaty: Munkebo Farms will have all cuts of their Domesticated Boar available along with most cuts of their Piedmontese beef. Boar is more flavorful than typical pork, it is juicier and tastes more like red meat. Piedmontese beef has almost half the cholesterol of typical beef and is 98% lean.

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Sat. Sept 23rd from 9am-1pm:

  • Significant Buzz: Round Rock Honey is rolling out a new product this weekend: Barrel Aged Bourbon Honey. This honey is aged in blue corn whiskey barrels immediately after the barrels are emptied at a leading Central Texas distillery. After months of aging, the fragrant floral notes in the honey meld with the remaining ether of the whiskey to form a remarkably smooth final product.

SFC Farmers’ Market at the Triangle, Wed. Sept 27th from 3pm-7pm:

  • SFC Farmers' Market at the Triangle to close October 25th. Read our statement »
  • Fancy Furry Friends: Check out this new insanely wholesome dog food born and bred in Austin from our friends at Grocery Pup. This nutritionally complete food is made with human grade ingredients that you can pick up and see for yourself. Ask about subscription plans or just pick up a bag for this week.
