We have said it once and we will say it again, volunteers help make our work possible! Every year volunteers give time, attention, and support to SFC Programs. From work in our office, gardens, farmers’ markets, and in the kitchen, volunteers help lighten the load. A current rock star volunteer is Stella Harper. Stella started her volunteer tenure with us at our SFC Farmers’ Market Information Booth and later focused her time in The Happy Kitchen assisting with public classes. Mark Your Calendars - Holiday Sing Along and Downtown Stroll
Ring in the season at the annual Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll on Saturday, December 2 from 5-9pm. This free, family-friendly event celebrates the arrival of the holiday season and the joy it brings. Enjoy live music from Austin favorites while you shop at our special night market! Then see the lighting of the Capitol tree, and take photos with Santa at the Vannagram Winter Wonderland. Learn more »


SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. Nov. 11th from 9am-1pm:

  • Hygge Inspo: Cocoa Puro Chocolates has all new Gløgg truffles! Inspired by the Danish Christmas drink of mulled wine with spices, raisins, almonds, and brandy, these truffles will put you in the mood for the holidays.
  • Last Chance: Richardson Farms is still taking orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have broad-breasted white turkeys and heritage bronze turkeys available for pre-order online or at the market. Pick up your birds at either the Downtown or Sunset Valley Farmers’ Market on November 18th.

  • It’s In the Cards: Stop by Arte Para la Vida’s booth this week to get some of their holiday cards! No matter your flavor of seasonal celebration, Arte Para la Vida will have something artful to give to those important to you.
  • Keeping It Hot: Looking for ways to stay warm as the cold weather sets in? Stop by La Flaca’s tent and pick up some of their variety of peppers, fresh and dried. Not looking for spicy? La Flaca has a number of other offerings, from bundles of lemongrass to transplants.
