SFC FARMERS' MARKET HAPPENINGS

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. Feb 3rd from 9am-1pm:

  • Egg-citing News: Chickens are finally kicking it in to high gear in the spring season! Oma and Opa’s Farm will have plenty of pastured chicken eggs this week, in addition to baby lettuce, French breakfast radishes, pickled serranos, red and green cabbage and the last of the cauliflower.
  • For Your Health: It’s no surprise to any of us that Central Texas is getting slammed with the flu this year. Luckily Lemon Tree Herbs will have potions and elixers to get you through. Try some elderberry syrup, thought to be able to shorten flu and cold symptoms by up to three days, or some antiviral fire cider to kick your immune system into high gear.
  • New Vendor Alert: Gourmet Texas Pasta has 38 varieties of flavored dried packaged pasta, 30 varieties of 100% Whole Wheat Durum Flour Non-GMO and 8 Gluten-Free Fettuccine flavors. Each pasta is made with real vegetables and herbs, like locally sourced mushrooms from Kitchen Pride and jalapenos from Braune Farms. Pick some up this weekend!

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Sat. Feb. 3rd from 9am-1pm:

  • Return of the Flac:  We're so excited to announce the return of La Flaca Farms! Their stand will be packed with Austin-grown and Austin-made gifts just in time for Valentine's Day! Pick up edible flowers to make your romantic dinner really pop, keep it spicy with a jar of Fuego Salt, give the gift of greenery with potted nasturtiums, pansies, and marigolds, or keep it simple with handmade pressed flower cards. Want to grow with your sweetie? Check out their class schedule and join La Flaca in growing food, not lawns!
  • Bees to the Rescue: At Round Rock Honey you'll find a fresh, raw product from Central Texas beehives. So far the bees have escaped harm from the freezing weather, but some farmers have not, so this weekend the folks at Round Rock Honey are donating $5 from every bottle of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Honey sold to the Texas Farmers Market Emergency Relief Fund. It’s a pretty sweet deal for struggling local farmers, and a sweet deal for you too. Pick up a bottle at our Sunset Valley or Downtown market’s this weekend.
