Austin Give 5 to Mother Earth

 
Tomorrow is Austin Give 5% to Mother Earth Day!


Have you heard? Austin Give 5% Day is happening THIS Friday, April 20th. This one-day, city-wide fundraiser is held each year in honor of Earth Day. This year, 217 Austin-area businesses will be donating 5% of their sales to benefit nine environmental nonprofits working to preserve our local environment, including SFC! YOU can do good simply by having fun - shop and dine for Mother Earth this Friday!

Farm to Plate On Sale Now!

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. April 21st from 9am-1pm:

  • Old Friends: Don’t spend another day missing one of our dearest farmers, Tecolote Farm returns this weekend with a wide array of greens, herbs, lettuce heads, green garlic and more.
  • Stuff a Mushroom: In your mouth! As long as it’s from our friends at Hi-Fi Myco. Drop in this week to gaze at oyster mushrooms as big as your head, or pick up a carton of these pink sweeties. Oyster, shiitake, pioppino, lion’s mane and reishi available this weekend.

 
SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Sat. April 21st from 9am-1pm:

  • Eggsquisite: Come fill your omelets, your poachers, and your skillets with the eggs from Yard To Market Cooperative! They’ll have some of the highest quality duck and chicken eggs ready to go at the stand this Saturday.
  • Cheesed Off: Come out and grab the best of Richardson Farms’ dairy at the Sunset Valley and Downtown markets this weekend. Available this weekend are various cheeses, made from their A2 Milk. The selection includes: white cheddar, gouda, pepper jack, asiago, and swiss.

Movie on The Hill: "Look and See"
April 20, 7pm-9:30pm. Join The Hill for a neighborhood outdoor film screening at the Park On The Hill. “Look and See: A Portrait of Wendell Berry” examines the world as seen through the works of farmer, writer and activist Wendell Berry. A reception with the film’s director, Laura Dunn, will take place at 7:00p, with the screening to follow at 8:00p. Learn more »


Austin Funky Chicken Coop Tour
April 21, 10am-4pm. The Funky Chicken Coop Tour®, is an annual self guided tour held each spring on Easter weekend to encourage city residents to raise chickens at home by demonstrating the many ways that chicken coops can be incorporated into urban residences. Many tour hosts demonstrate how to incorporate chickens, and their manure, into a household gardening and composting regimen that results in inexpensive, healthy and sustainable food, even in relatively small spaces. April 21, 12pm-7pm. Join us at Huston-Tillotson University for Earth Day ATX 2018. This event is FREE and open to the public! This year’s festival theme is “Reclaiming Power”. Programming and activities will focus around power: local power, human power, sustainable power, and much more! May 12, 12-2pm. It's craft time at in.gredients! Join them every second Saturday for Crafternoon where kids can be creative and make something unique!
