11th Annual Farm to Plate

Another Wonderful Year at Farm to Plate + Photos!

Our 11th Annual Farm to Plate fundraising event was held on Wednesday, May 9th at Barr Mansion. It was truly a magical evening featuring the best ingredients from our local farmers, deliciously crafted by our top local chefs. Thank you to everyone who came out and made this night such a success! Because of the support of our amazing guests we were able to meet our fundraising goal for the evening. Plus, with generous matching grants by Still Water Foundation and Johnson Ohana Foundation, our impact was doubled!

No Farm to Plate is ever complete without acknowledging the local culinary artists who crafted the delicious bites and sips for us. Please join us in thanking them by paying a visit to one of their establishments soon!

We'd also like to thank our generous sponsors for making the evening possible, as well as our production team Mueller Scott Concepts, host Barr Mansion, musicians Huck Johnson and the Jackknives, and all our event volunteers. Special thanks goes to our photographers ixi photography and AzulOx Visuals for capturing the evening so beautifully. Be sure to check out our photo album on Facebook!

SFC FARMERS' MARKET HAPPENINGS

SFC Farmer's Market Downtown 15th Anniversary;

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. May 19th from 9am-1pm:

  • Fiora De Zucca: It’s that magical time of year when springtime veggies pop off the vine and right onto our plates. Animal Farm has the first squash blossoms of the year, perfect for delicate sautés, herbaceous omelettes, succulent pizza toppings or stuffed with goat cheese and lightly fried. If eating flowers isn’t your thing, you can always pick up a bouquet to take home and gaze lovingly at all week.
  • Jerky Artists: ATX Jerky considers themselves not merely purveyors of additive and preservative free jerky, but artisans of dried meat in all it’s forms. Try out spicy peppered, sweet teriyaki, bacon flavored or unflavored (perfect for your doggo companions.)
  • New Vendor Alert! Get smashed this weekend with our newest vendor, Citrusnade! They crush fresh lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruits and mix them with all natural sweeteners and sparkling water.

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Sat. May 19th from 9am-1pm:

  • You’re Grounded: Looking for some of the best produce in Central Texas? Swing by Middle Ground Farms’ booth and stock up! Farmer Lorig still has a bevvy of delicious green beans and blackberries, and is adding summer squash and cherry tomatoes to the table this week. Stop by early to get the goods before they’re gone.
  • Cool Ranch: Have you met the new meat at market? Swing by the western end to grab some beef from Jon and Amanda of Copper Creek Ranch. They’ve got steaks, oxtail, ground beef, and more!
