SFC FARMERS' MARKET HAPPENINGS

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. June 2nd from 9am-1pm:

  • Perfect Pillows: If you’ve been stumbling around the market, stomach grumbling, yearning for the crispy chewy release only a pierogi can give you, the wait is up! Austin Pierogi is back and better than ever! Try out the spicy Jalapeño Popper served with a creamy cilantro-lime sauce, or keep it classic with a Sauerkraut pierogi with beet horseradish and a sour cream sauce.
  • Feels like Summer: The temps are turning up and that means it’s about to taste like summer as well. This weekend Johnson’s Backyard Garden will have the very first okra of the season for all your snacking, frying and pickling needs. Also rolling around are green beans, potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, summer squash and a whole host of herbs and greens to round out your dinner menus for the week to come.
  • Super Ribs: You may have always enjoyed Peach Creek Farm for their deliciously seasoned sausages, pork loin roasts and skin-on shoulder roasts but have you heard about Super Ribs? Check out this post for more info on how to prepare these full length pork spare ribs with the belly left on.

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Sat. June 2nd from 9am-1pm:

  • New Vendor Alert! Eden’s Cove returns to market this weekend, stop by grab some of Farmer JoAnn’s small batch, high quality pork! This week’s products include breakfast, andouille, Italian sausages, and bratwurst, as well as thick and thin bacon. Also welcome Goldenwood Mushrooms! Fresh mushrooms this week include the blue lambert oyster, golden oyster, lions mane, Italian oyster, shiitake, and maitake.
  • Old Standby: Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of a market day we forget that one thing will always be there when we need, Tamale Addiction! Whether you are strictly a Pork Tomatillo fan or you gravitate toward the zingy flavor of the Xochitl (pronounced Soh-chee) take comfort in knowing a delicious organic tamale is always available.
