Making the healthy choice the affordable choice

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF) has an annual goal of improving the health and wellness of over one million children and their families across the United States. And with their critical support, we are able to increase access to healthy, affordable food for families right here in Central Texas.

Last month, they visited our SFC Farmers' Market at Sunset Valley and spoke to families who participate in our SFC Double Dollars project. Visit their blog today to learn what these families had to say about Double Dollars, and why it is a crucial piece in improving the health of our community.

THIS WEEK AT THE SFC FARMERS' MARKETS

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown, Sat. Sept 1st from 9am-1pm:

  • New Vendors Abound! We’ve a large crop of new vendors starting Downtown this weekend. Stop by The Sourdough Project for their delicious fermented sourdough crackers. Still snacking? Try the delicious orbs from Health Bomz, in flavors such as Peanut Butter+Goji, Chocolate Bone Broth, and Trail Mix. Get a full meal at the Casper Fermentables + LeRoy and Lewis BBQ collaborative, featuring Texas-Korean BBQ dishes!

Looking for a full meal for your canine companion? Grab some chow and treats from Chow Hound, their dog food formula is made from chicken, beef, turkey, or lamb, in an effort to replicate the natural diet a dog would eat. Need to relax after all these filling local foods? Try some of the incense from Dream Lion Incense, this week featuring the Raise Lotus scent of pinon wood, sandalwood, and rose. Still not feeling chill? Mineral Health is busting out their unique blend of hemp and MCT oil, tailored towards your emotional, mental, and physical recovery.
  • Just New to You: We’ve two fresh faces, who aren’t new vendors, but they’re new to the Downtown market! Stop by and grab rad pottery from Michael Velasquez Ceramics, or request a custom piece of work if you’ve eyes on something you can’t see. Party Fowl Farm has whole chicken, uncommon and mouthwatering melons and squash, and small batch jams made from berries harvested on the farm.

SFC Farmers’ Market at Sunset Valley, Sat. Sept 1st from 9am-1pm:

  • Get Yer Fresh Vendors Here! Sunset Valley has its share of new faces joining the roster this weekend. Blue Donkey Farm will be bringing their tasty pork to market as bacon, porkchops, and even more cuts! Need something to jumpstart your fall planting? Try the vermiculture compost tea from I Got Worms. Need something to take the stress out your frame? ATX Sound Balancing brings tuning fork treatments to market goers to support relaxation, clarity, and rejuvenation through vibrations and resonance. Artfullbeing brings artist Kristi Standley’s skills in portraiture to the fore, be it for you, the pets, or the whole family.
