It's that Time Again! Farmers' Market Nutrition Program Season Begins

The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) season is kicking off! This seasonal program (April through October), provides families who participate in WIC (Women Infant and Children) more incentives to shop locally to purchase fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables from our Texas farmers. This program benefits low-income families, local farmers, and puts more dollars into the local economy. It’s a win all-around! Keep reading to learn more.

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown and at Sunset Valley:

• Making a Mint: Trying to kick that recipe up to the next level? Use some of the fresh herbs from the farmers at market! Stop by and get fresh herb bundles from our new vendor Herban Austin at our Downtown market this Saturday, or stock your spice cabinet with mints and basils at Johnson’s Backyard Garden!
• What’s Black and White and Red All Over? The produce at market, that’s what! Red russian kale, black Spanish radishes, and white daikons, for starts. Top it off with the other white meats of chicken and pork, or some Texas beef to round out your larder at the markets this weekend.

12th Annual Farm to Plate

April 14th. Sip, eat and stroll on four working urban farms - Boggy Creek Farm, HausBar Urban Farm and GuestHaus, Rain Lily Farm, and Eden East Farm - all located within walking / biking distance of one another in the heart of East Austin.
