Austin-Round Rock metro area has grown by an average of 55,500 people every year. Because of development, Travis County loses 6 football fields worth of farmland every day. Unless we act now to support our local farmers, we will continue to see a decrease in the availability of local food, resulting in negative consequences for our environment and our health.

THIS WEEKEND AT THE MARKETS  -  SAT, JUNE 15, 2019

 
SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown and at Sunset Valley:

  • New Vendor Alert! Sunset Valley market goers, we’ve got more for you this weekend! Nab a bite to eat with Caribbean and Filipino fusion foods from D Golden Pineapple, and wash it down with some cold-pressed juice made from local fruits and veggies at the Peoples RX booth. Try some halva for dessert, a honey-sweetened sesame treat, and grab a thing of tahini for later from Sesa's Specialty Foods!
  • Summer’s Bounty: After all these recent rains, it’s time to get out and start grilling! All sorts of summer vegetables are coming up in the fields: grab peppers, tomatoes, squash, and eggplant from the farmers this weekend!

"Secret Garden" Summer Fridays Happy Hour at TRACE
Every Friday during June and July; 3-9pm. TRACE is transforming its lush outdoor lounge into a “Secret Garden” with half-off cocktails, a special garden menu, large format drinks, and more surprises weekly during June and July. They’ll be selling succulents with prizes (you could win an overnight stay at the W Hotel!) and proceeds benefit SFC. Learn more »

Farm Camp at Green Gate Farms
June 17-28. Green Gate Farms’ will be hosting its awarding-winning Farm Camp at its River Farm for the last two weeks in June. Camps are for kids ages 5-15 to help on an organic vegetable and flower farm, care for animals, learn to cook, play in the Colorado River and more. Sibling, multi-week discounts and carpooling provided. Learn more »
