It's the Summertime and Food Access Programming is Still in Full Swing!


Summertime is here, and that means some shifts in our Food Access programming! With schools being closed for the summer, so are several of our Fresh for Less Markets. But we are continuing to build bridges between the Austin community and the Double Dollars network. We will continue to operate two Fresh for Less Markets in South and Southeast Austin, and our partners at Farmshare Austin will be operating three additional Fresh for Less Markets throughout the summer. And at our own SFC Farmers’ Markets, and with partner markets, our Food Access team is ramping up the annual summertime Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown and at Sunset Valley:

  • New Vendor Alert! Sesa Specialty Foods is bringing Middle Eastern treats made of paleo, gluten free and vegan sesame seeds! Try some halva, a deliciously semi-sweet treat with nuts and fruit, or some savory tahini spread on your next weekend picnic!
  • Cool Down: With temps reaching the 90’s this week, all we could do is look forward to a sweet and cool treat from the market this weekend. From paleta’s to ice cream, tonics to teas, coffees, kombuchas and more there is something to help everyone cool down this weekend. See you there!

Every Friday during June and July; 3-9pm. TRACE is transforming its lush outdoor lounge into a “Secret Garden” with half-off cocktails, a special garden menu, large format drinks, and more surprises weekly during June and July.
