Summer Sunset

We're Going on a Summer Break!

Last week we unveiled our new mission statement and vision for the future. We are so excited for these big changes ahead, but all this change takes a lot work, and we need a break!

With summer in full swing (can you feel the heat out there!?), we are taking the opportunity to recharge, regroup, and refocus. The Featured Article section of our weekly newsletter is going on summer vacation while we work on improving our content and creating a brand new design for our weekly news.

We'll keep sending you weekly updates about What's New at the SFC Farmers' Markets and all the exciting food events going on in our community. Stay tuned for an exciting new newsletter starting this September, featuring even more content to keep you in the know about all things sustainable food.

THIS WEEKEND AT THE MARKETS  -  SAT, AUG 3, 2019

SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown and at Sunset Valley:

  • Big Latch On: Mamas and papas head on down to the market to participate in the Austin area annual Latch On! Get your photo taken, enter to win raffle prizes and talk to your fellow mom’s while perusing the market. Latch on happens promptly at 10:30 so get there early to join thousands of women celebrating this sacred activity. Learn more »
  • Long and Squiggly: We’ve been seeing a bunch of odd looking summer veggies popping up at the markets, but don’t despair they cook up just like your old faves! Stop by Animal Farm for some laginaria longissima, an Italian heirloom winter squash perfect for grilling or mid-summer curries. Also getting in on the fun are long beans, which cook up just like green beans and come in beautiful red and green shades. If you are ever in a pickle just ask your friendly farmer their own favorite recipes.
  • Happy Birthday Austin! Celebrate Austin’s birthday at the 2nd Annual Austin’s Birthday Bash in Republic Square this Saturday. After you shop the market, stick around or head back downtown to see live music, get some sweet treats and even get your Topgolf on. Learn more »
