HOW YOU CAN EAT FOR PLANETARY HEALTH
By Adrienne Haschke, SFC Farm Direct Program Director |
|
We are at a critical moment in time. We face deep environmental harm, ongoing food insecurity and increasing rates of diet-related disease caused by the industrial food system. But it’s not too late to make a difference.
By changing your meals to eat for Planetary Health, you can protect your health, aid in rehabilitating the Planet, and help restore balance with the land and the animals whose lives are defined by the way we eat.

THIS WEEKEND AT THE MARKETS
Downtown and Sunset Valley - Sat, Sept. 14
|
|
Welcome Back! Downtown is the place to be this weekend to reconnect with your favorite people. Munkebo Farms is back with Egyptian spinach and homemade frozen pies just waiting for your busy weeknight meal. Hat and Heart also has you covered in the ready to eat category with their superb cucumber or okra pickles and relishes. Pick up a myriad of fresh sweet or hot peppers, the beginnings of winter squash, eggs and goat meat. Then head to Lemon Tree Herbs for some passionflower elizer, shisandra tincture, and a one on one consultation for what herbs are good and soothing what ails you.
Is it Fall Yet? Apple Valley Orchard is here reminding us that autumn is right around the corner with sweet and juicy Fuji apples. The apple crisp you are about to make is a perfect end to a meal of roasted mushrooms from Goldenwood Mushrooms, a crisp salad with Esperanza Farms lettuce, and seared pork chops from Richardson Farms.
