Tips for Cooking this New Year

THIS WEEKEND AT THE MARKETS
Highlights, Vendors, Events and more. Downtown and Sunset Valley - Sat. Feb 6

IN SEASON NOW: Check out our markets for the perfect mix of winter and spring veggies. Tender greens (like mustard, tat soi, arugula, and swiss chard) still grace all our farmers tables, alongside the king of winter heavies: brassicas. Vegetables in this illustrious family include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kales, and brussels sprouts. Also lined up in brightly colored rainbows are an array of root veggies including beets, carrots, radishes, turnips, and rutabaga. Delicious herbs round out the offerings, this time of year expect to find dill, parsley, cilantro, oregano, fresh rosemary, and lemongrass. Happy cooking!

DOWNTOWN: Shop for your sweetie this weekend with Rose Burkhardt Jewelry just in time for Valentine’s Day. Find unique, handmade pieces with understated elegance like gold necklaces with heart shaped pendants and drop earrings with a captive lava rock. If you want to set the mood even further look no further than Gojema Candles for high quality, all natural candles in scents like rosewater and fern, smoked oak and bergamot, or white grapefruit and yuzu.

SUNSET VALLEY: With only a week to go before V-day, consider preordering treats from one of Sunset Valley’s illustrious bakers. Le Renard Patisserie has pies on the menu (including this Kahlua molasses pecan pie) among piles of delicious goodies. For homestyle comfort food look no further than Dorothy’s Choice. Preorders are available for cookies by the dozen, layered banana cream pies, and red velvet cupcakes.

To keep our vendors, staff and customers safe, we request everyone wear a face covering or mask while in the market area. Click here to learn more about our safety measures. SFC Farmers' Market match SNAP, WIC and FMNP benefits with Double Up Food Bucks! Visit our website for more information on which vendors will be at market, what products are in season, and more.
