Farm to Plate Blessed By Rain!
600 guests joined us at our 6th annual Farm to Plate at Barr Mansion on Thursday, May 9th for the marvelous celebration of local food, honoring Lynn, Tom and Will Meredith with our inaugural Sustainable Food Changemakers award. With wonderful music by Suzuki Strings of Austin and The Lost Pines, our partner food and beverage artisans knocked it out of the park again! We continue to be grateful for the rain our farmers need to harvest the amazing bounty for this event and for our community. Click here to see photos from this year's event!

Thank you to our wonderful sponsors and the leading Central Texas chefs who demonstrate a commitment to procuring local food. Please click here to recognize all of them!
The event raised funds to expand our programs and allow us to train groups all across the country to grow a strong local food system in their own communities. Thanks
to all of our participants who made a gift toward our $25K matching
opportunity! We only have $1,910 left to raise – we invite you to invest in SFC
today. We're empowering families to feed themselves for a lifetime, and to change the course of agriculture to support environmental, cultural and economic health. DONATE HERE→

Fostering Leaders and Connecting to Food in The Happy Kitchen The foundation of The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre® is the cadre of 40+ trained Facilitators that lead classes and workshops across Austin. These are community members who care deeply about helping others eat healthy and hone their cooking skills and confidence. Even though I [Joy Casnovsky, The Happy Kitchen Director] adore working at Sustainable Food Center and thoroughly believe in our mission, I still sometimes get stuck in the day-to-day grind of running the program (yes, I just admitted that!). However, my eyes always light up upon hearing stories first-hand from the Facilitators, like the ones I heard this week. It reminds me of the fantastic work we are doing in the community by cultivating leaders and connecting people to their food. READ MORE→
